An Electrifying Game of Cricket in Aid of Charity 03 June 2010

(Colombo Lankapuvath June 03) IIAFA celebration moves from the world of fashion to the world of cricket tomorrow (04) when the most popular team game is Asia will be a partner in “cricket for children” IIFA agenda presents.

In view of “Cricket for Children” coming out tomorrow, three XI side teams have been named under the leadership of Hrthik Roshan, Sunil Shetty and Sri Lankan national team skipper Kumar Sangakkara.

What is remarkable is that besides leading the sides, the Bollywood Stars, cricketers of both countries are committed to the cause and welfare of children. Speaking on behalf of the Indian side dashing Indian Actor, Vivek Oberoi expressed in no uncertain terms that so many have been trapped in war, over the years, so many have suffered and IIFA was providing a good platform to create a much better environment specially for children who cannot be imprisoned by walls or trauma of war.

Sri Lanka national team Skipper Kumar Sangakkara said that due to the North East terrorists activities, generations of children lost their childhood days.

However there is light at the end of the tunnel. It is our duty to help the disadvantage and disabled children due to the war in particular. Stars of Bollywood and Sri Lanka cricketers will be in voluntary action during the games tomorrow at SSC grounds giving their fans of Cinema and Cricket to see their heroes in action. According to the agenda, Sangakkara’s team will meet the team led by Sunil Shetty while the winners will meet the team led by Hrithik Roshan, The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) joins hands with UNICEF and Sri Lanka Cricket for “Cricket for Children” initiative by donating part of its preceeds from IIFA celebrity cricket match that will be a crowd puller tomorrow.

As the show attracts crowds to SSC grounds it will also light up the lives of the disadvantaged and deprived children and give them a new start in life to a normal childhood and thereafter.

Wizcraft director Sabbas Joseph is hopeful that Cinema and Cricket can play an important role in reaching out to the unhappy and the disadvantaged.
