A Safety Wall of Five Acts for Buddhism

(Colombo Lankapuvath May 31) New Acts will be introduced in order to safeguard Buddhism and Maga Sangha in the country said Prime Minister and Minister of Buddasasana and Religious Affairs.

He mentioned this during discussions held with Atamasthanadipathi Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera in Anuradhapura. The Prime Minister said that accordingly five Acts are to be introduced while the preliminary proposal was presented to Cabinet.

The Premier also noted that in addition to the five Acts, the Government was contemplating on introducing several other initiatives to meet rural temples needs.

Priority will be given to the views and ideas of the Maga Sangha in bringing about the new Acts said Prime Minister Jayarathne.
